I’m happy to share with you my recent artwork. I am continually captivated by nature; interested in capturing plant and flower images through all of their cycles in nature – seeds, sprouts, shoots, flowers unfolding, blossoming, withering. I am interested also in the visual rhythm of leaves unfolding on a stem, roots swirling in a jar. I am striving to capture this energy of germination/blossoming/ growth by lively calligraphic marks and brush strokes.

In the summer of 2007, I was privileged to spend two weeks in France – nine days painting and drawing in the garden of Claude Monet in Giverny, France; and a few days visiting the museums in Paris. To be given the opportunity to work with the same images that captivated Monet was so thrilling and inspiring.

I have been traveling and drawing in other locations as well – the sun coast on the Gulf in Florida, Lake Michigan and Achill Island, my mother’s home in Ireland. Here in St. Louis, I have worked often at the Missouri Botanical Garden and from the garden and memorial pond for my daughter, Bridget, in my own yard.

The drawings are oil pastel, prismacolor pencils or ink. The paintings are oil or watercolor. I have been painting also on silk with dye, producing large banners, silk scarves and ties.

I welcome any questions or comments you have. Contact me for more info on purchases.
